Our new baby Sawyer!

Here he is, our new chocolate lab, Sawyer. We have had him for a week and it has been bittersweet. Look at this face and tell me he isn't the cutest little thing you ever did see:). He has been quite a bit of work, though. I seriously feel like I have a newborn baby. Between feedings, potty training, and rockin' him at night, I am exhausted. I want to be a good owner, so I bought a book on training labs. It has been interesting. He will be an outdoor dog, but for right now it is too cold to put him outside, so I have been housetraining him. I had to leave for a couple of days with my cheerleaders and I was worried that Aaron couldn't handle all of the duties and ultimately keep my house and "carpet" clean. He said, "Tracy, I had a lot of dogs growing up out in Riverton." I told him that I knew that but that they just ran free out in the country and pooped where they wanted to. I said, "We are training Sawyer to be a respectable, city dog that poops in one place out in the yard." He was a little offended with my logic LOL!!! We have been excercising the little guy so he sleeps through the night. Bless his little heart, he is wanting me to put him in his kennel so Macy and Matty don't maul him. All in all, the little guy has a family that loves him and I guess that is all that matters!

Love Mary Poppins!

I love old Disney movies, especially Mary Poppins. I know that childhood favorites may be attributed to great childhood memories and I think that is where my love for Mary Poppins came into play. My grandmother Goodwin used to have a record player that sat in a beautiful entertainment system complete with a T.V, soundsystem, recordplayer all placed in beautiful cabinetry. It was a lovely piece of furniture with carved paisely. Her father had a furniture store so she has unique pieces of furniture. She has since placed her modern, big screen on top of the furniture but because of it's intricate beauty has not moved the piece. I have vivid memories of watching the movie at her home but also listening to the record in that record player. If I remember right, the media entertainment was not easy to come by. In fact, I think we checked-out the record from the public library. We didn't own the copy so it meant that much more to us......well, like viewing a film at the movie theater before VCR's and easy accessible media entertainment......everyone saw it once and held on tight to the memory. Santa brought the kids a Mary Poppins DVD, and I'll tell you what, I have watched it over and over with them. Macy and Matthew have been singing a "Spoon Full of Sugar", "Supercalifradgilisticexpealidocious", and "Chim Chimeny" for 3 weeks now. I love it and I think what I love the most is the innocence and the great, special memories of my sweet grandmother, her home, and singing to that record player!
